AI Sources

The AI Sources module shows where AI platforms source their answers in your category: which domains and URLs get cited, which of your published pages AI actually cites, and where your competitors are cited.

What it's for​

  • Maps cited sources — real URLs referenced in AI answers (from checks with web search enabled).
  • Shows citation genesis — whether a source appeared for brand questions, product-category questions or questions about a specific product.
  • Measures coverage of your content — which of your published URLs AI cites, and for which questions.
  • Points out gaps and outreach targets — places where competitors are cited and you are not.

How to start​

Data in this module comes from visibility checks (brand and product). The more checks with web search enabled, the fuller the source picture. Start with regular checks in Brand visibility and Product visibility.

Step by step​

  1. Open AI Sources. The module has three views: AI Sources, Our content and Competitors.
  2. In the AI Sources view, browse cited domains. The Genesis filter narrows the list to citations from brand, product-category or specific-product questions. Each source has a type (industry, news, catalog/comparison site, listicle/ranking, forum, YouTube…).
  3. For domains where you're absent, run outreach — the "Planned → Sent → Success" statuses track your efforts to get a mention or a publication.
  4. The "Where to publish / earn mentions" section suggests a ranking of domains each AI platform cites most readily — the best publication targets.
  5. In the Our content view you'll see which of your URLs AI cites, your coverage and the citation trend per URL and per question. The URL universe is built from three layers: content published from the platform, a manual list (e.g. PR, guest posts) and your sitemap.
  6. The Competitors view shows where your competitors are cited and how often AI mentions them.
From gap to content

The shortest value loop: a gap in the question ranking → check in AI Sources who gets cited for that question → publish or negotiate a mention in such a source → watch the citation trend.

FAQ​

Where do the URLs in this module come from? From real AI answers — we store the sources cited in checks with web search enabled. These are not estimates or third-party databases.

How is "Our content" different from "AI Sources"? "AI Sources" is the whole universe of cited domains (yours and others'). "Our content" narrows it to URLs you own and answers the question "is what I publish actually working in AI".

What should I do with a domain AI cites often, where I'm absent? That's a source gap — the most valuable outreach target. Set the outreach status and watch whether the mention starts getting cited after publication (trend).

Why is my "Our content" list empty? The URL universe needs content published from the platform, entries on the manual list or a connected sitemap. Add URLs manually or configure the sitemap in universe management.
