Brand visibility
The Brand visibility module shows how often and in what context AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AIO) mention your brand when users ask questions related to your industry.
What it's for
- Measures Share of Voice (SoV) — your brand's share of AI mentions versus competitors.
- Shows the sentiment and tone of what AI says about your brand.
- Ranks questions — which ones generate mentions and which are a gap (AI picks a competitor).
- Tracks the trend over time — a single reading says little; the direction says everything.
The module works in every package (it's the core of the Brand package).
How to start
Brand visibility is measured through topic maps — named sets of questions that real AI users ask. You need at least one saved map with questions.
Checks query the model a consumer actually sees on each platform (e.g. the current default ChatGPT), not the platform's internal model. See the glossary.
Step by step
- Open Visibility → Topic map.
- Generate questions (AI proposes a set for your industry) or add your own. Questions can be edited and deleted.
- Save the map (💾 icon). The dot next to a map shows save state: 🟢 saved / 🟡 unsaved changes / 🔴 empty.
- Run checks on the selected AI platforms. Web search is on by default (the "web search" checkbox), so answers reflect the current market.
- Wait for results (checks also run in the nightly monitoring cycle).
- Go to Visibility → Results to see SoV, sentiment, tone, position and the question ranking (split into strengths and gaps).
The number of maps per workspace and questions per map depend on your package — see Limits. Total question ceiling = maps × questions per map.
FAQ
Why does the mention count change between days? AI models are non-deterministic — some variance is normal. Watch the trend, not a single reading.
What does a "gap" in the question ranking mean? A question where AI mentions a competitor instead of you. Gaps are the best starting point for content and outreach in the AI Sources module.
Can I measure visibility per persona? Yes — you can contextualize questions with a persona (e.g. "head of procurement"). We store the base question, while the persona context shapes how the query is asked.
Does web search cost anything? AI usage (including web search) counts toward your budget — you see a cost preview in the check window. A daily safety valve protects against sudden overruns.
