Personas
The Personas module measures visibility from the perspective of a specific buyer type. The same question asked "generically" and "as an e-commerce manager with budget X" can produce very different AI answers — personas expose that difference.
What it's for
- Checks whether AI recommends your brand to specific customer types, not just the "average user".
- Compares mentions, SoV and sentiment per persona on every platform.
- Suggests content formats that best reach a given persona (article, ranking, comparison, FAQ).
The number of personas depends on your package (the Brand package has a basic limit) — see Limits.
How to start
A good persona is not demographics but decision context: who the buyer is, what they evaluate, what they worry about. This context is prepended to the question during a visibility check — the more specific, the more realistic the AI answer.
Step by step
- Open Personas and click "+ Add persona".
- Fill in the form:
- Name — e.g. "E-commerce manager", "Parent buying a first bike".
- AI context (required) — 1-3 first-person sentences, e.g. "I run an online sports equipment store, looking for a supplier with fast shipping and good reviews".
- Decision criteria and pain points — one per line; they sharpen the perspective.
- Save. The persona is now available in brand visibility checks — we store the base question, while the persona context shapes how the query is asked.
- Come back after a few checks: the persona card shows mentions, SoV and sentiment per AI platform, plus recommended content formats.
Personas also work for shopping questions about products — see Product visibility.
FAQ
Does the AI "know" a persona is asking? Yes — the persona context is added before the question, exactly the way a real user would describe their situation. Results always show the base question, so comparisons between personas stay fair.
How many personas should I have? Start with your 2-3 most important customer segments. Too many personas blur the picture and multiply check costs.
Why do persona results differ from the "generic" ones? That's exactly the module's value — AI tailors recommendations to the asker's context. If your brand disappears from answers for a key persona, that's a signal to build content addressing their decision criteria.
What happens when I hit the persona limit? Existing personas keep working; adding another requires a higher package.
